Graphene / quantum dot hybrid technology to prepare ultra-light spectral range image sensor

Scientists from the Institute of Photonics (ICFO) have developed a new image processing chip that, for the first time, enables digital cameras to successfully capture both infrared and ultraviolet light and visible light at the same time, using new nanographene and quantum dot hybrid technologies ICFO researchers deployed a single layer of graphene using a metal, PbS QDD semiconductor material and placed it on a CMOS wafer using this hybrid system, connected to an image processing chip package unit and read Take the circuit.

In this way, the research team succeeded in producing high-resolution image sensors capable of simultaneously sensing a wide range of spectral wavelengths, from 300 nm to 2000 nm and fully covering the visible range. Gerasimos Konstantatos, co-author of the research paper, said: "We successfully extended the quantum dot technology to the near infrared (1100-1900 nm) which enabled our passive night vision technology to simultaneously detect and show the clear night sky atmosphere." This result Demonstrating the possibility of a new type of far-infrared image sensor with high sensitivity and low cost at room temperature, which has a huge market prospect.

The study was published in the latest issue of Nature Optical.
